Welcome to my blog, I am happy that you dropped by and will appreciate your continued support while I venture into the blogosphere for the first time. Let me start with my bio even though you can find this on my profile.
I spent all of my youth and some of my adulthood in a small Ottawa suburb with many friends. Since our little town was somewhat isolated from the big-city resources there were not a lot of local events to keep me busy. This brought me into the city to meet the needs of my active youth, as I was involved in many sports and hobbies. Over the years, I have built quite the network throughout the Ottawa region. Who says small towns have no benefits?!?!
I came from a very good family, a hard working father who rarely used his sick days but did use his vacation to treat the family to some amazing adventures across Canada, the U.S. and some of Europe. My mother was also a hard working stay at home mom. Above the regular duties of a stay at home mom, she went above and beyond and was active in volunteer work with various organizations from sports to school to charities. The household was always a buzz of activity between me and my two siblings there was rarely a night when my parents did not have to team up to drag us to all our games, practices and social events.
To the outside world, we were a normal, happy family meeting and exceeding all the expectations of normal citizens. But of course, every family has its ups and downs and skeletons in the closets. For us it was no different and we certainly have experienced some of these failures. Such as teen pregnancy, car wrecks, underage drinking, suicide attempts, sexual abuse, and university dropouts. In the end, all of the above were on the minor end of the scale, but they have all played a part in shaping me into the person that I am today.
Who am I today? A 34 year old married man, with a full time job, a house in the suburbs, two cars and a pet cat and dog. It seems that I am falling into the same mold that my parents formed for me. Including all the blemishes… Am I perfect? From the outside, you might think my life is close to it, but with a closer look, this is not the case. My blemishes include inappropriate flirting (with intent), finances, lusting for women half my age, recreational drugs, massage parlours, prostitutes and promiscuity in general.
Who will I be tomorrow? With children in our plans for the near future, this is a question I ask myself nearly every day. Maybe this blog will help me discover myself and perhaps redefine myself. Or… do people ever change? This blog will address all the above issues and my above-mentioned experiences will colour my views and attitudes towards my actions, experiences, and thoughts that are expressed here. More than anything, this will be an honest and open view of my life. I encourage and expect audience participation in this blog, so please comment often, provide suggestions, thoughts, observations, or your own experiences whenever they seem relevant or even if they do not. If there is something you want me to expand on, or something you want me to address, then please let me know about it. Your participation will increase the usefulness and entertainment value of this blog. So let me hear it Ottawa!
